5 Tips on Why Interns Need to Network With Analysts

One of the common mistakes of most interns -

Most interns focus on building relationship with MDs, Directors, and VPs, while either ignoring the Analysts, or even acting cocky (arrogant) to them. You need to stop doing this right away if you want to have a smoother internship. The analysts may not have decision making power to decide on your return offers, but they can teach you a thing or two.

👉   Analysts tend to be the closest to interns with similar age group, and how they too have to fight for return offers just 1-2 years ago, when they were interns themselves.

👉  So before you try to outsmart your Analysts, remember -

🤝 They DO have more experience than you do

🤝 They got a better understanding of the company's expectations

👉 Instead, network with them and build peer connections to actually get them to help you with tons of useful information to make you internship smoother

👉 Get their insights into handling tough bosses and avoiding pitfalls at work, for instance, important reports

👉  Steer clear of office gossip and bad mouthing peers

I remember, as an intern I got a great deal of help from the analyst on my team, as he guided me on how to avoid common mistakes on the trading floor- not to mention how to get into the good books of some of our VP and Directors.
