7 Tips to maximise your summer break!

If you’ve completed your finals and are looking for ways to maximise your summer break, these are some ideas for you:

1.Summer Internship/ Part-time/ Contract-based Jobs- Even if you didn’t manage to bag your best offer, don’t stress. Take up a contracted or part- time position, for example with a smaller sized firm which may offer more hands on experience  than a big company

2.Learn a New Skill- Choose anything ranging from Python, digital marketing certification, VBA, Financial modelling, photography, video editing, or even personal financial management or cooking (those are life skills). Use Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, InsideSherpa (open source virtual internship), or even sign up for online courses offered by the ivy leagues

3.Case Competition/ Business Events- A great way to exhibit your ability to transfer academic training to resolve real business challenges. Events like Fintech Week are great for networking and updating market knowledge

4.Professional Development (Networking, Professional Certifications)- Use this time to prepare for your CFA/FRM or any certification relevant to your field. Like point 2, you can try Coursera, PMP (project management), Google (AdWords/ Publisher/ Analytics). Email your professors, past/ upcoming supervisors, attend networking events and ask senior professionals industry related advice to build rapport

Looks charming on the CV too!

7.Initiate a Project- Shows initiative and proactive approach esp for things that you’re passionate for- could be a short film, staring an organic nursery, teaching kids, learning to trade, or creating your portfolio.
