11 Interview Questions From Singapore Investment Banks and Tips to Ace Them

These were asked in IBD and S&T interviews across JPMorgan, Goldman, MS, and CS. Be it HireVue or super day, knowing the questions won't help without the right answering strategy, esp for the behavioural / situation-based ones.
 

1. Take me through your CV (storytelling is key- how have your life choices lead to this role?)

2. What is leveraged buyout and why does a company need it? Any example of leveraged buyout deals?

3. What's more important- Doing a great job or meeting the deadline? (balance both- must meet deadlines but minimal errors)

4. How could a company with positive EBITDA go bankrupt?

5. How do you work with highly competitive and talented people?

6. What is the definition of a risk-taker? Are you one? (Risk-averse for IB, risk-tolerant for S&T)

7. How do you juggle between collaborating with others and working individually?

8. How are convertible bonds accounted for in calculating enterprise value?

9. How are the 3 financial statements linked?

10. Benefits of raising equity vs debt financing?

11. Tell me about a team project when you faced resistance to your idea. How did you convince them?
