1️⃣ What is a Chinese Wall?
- The Chinese wall means that IBD is strictly separated from S&T
- Inside every IBank, IBD and S&T could not be on the same floor
- Most of their staff card does not work on each other's floor
- As an IBD Analyst, if you ever come across a handsome colleague from S&T, remember not to say Hi

2️⃣ Why do IBD and S&T need to be separated?
- Due to Compliance issues!
- Main duties of IBD: IPO, M&A, Issuing bonds, hence all the unpublished deals must be kept strictly confidential
- IBD could not release information to the public including S&T!
- To protect themselves from Compliance Issue, IBank would separate IBD and S&T and hence build a Chinese Wall between the two!
