You NEED to know about these Bank Aptitude Tests Right Now!!

The investment banking recruitment season is underway and students who got an early start are already being invited to participate in aptitude tests and video interviews. Usually, apt tests come a little sooner than video interviews, so if you’re not able to pass the apt test, those interviews may not come. It’s daunting, we know.
But… what type of tests should you expect? We’ve compiled a quick list of some of the major ones used by big-name companies:

SHL Talent CentralBarclays, Deloitte, Hang Seng
SHL combines numerical and logical test questions (e.g. you might get a math question followed by a logic-based one). The good thing is with logic questions especially, there are no wrong answers. So just answer, even if you don’t know!

Cut-e Nomura, Morgan Stanley, UBS, CS
This year, both MS and Nomura went for Cut-e, alongside numerical and logic tests. These are tough because incorrect answers will cost you, so if you don’t know, don’t answer. To add to the pressure, this is a lot about testing your speed too. You need to answer correctly and quickly in order to have a better chance of proceeding to the next round.

Professional Learning Indicator (PLI) DBS

This also tests your ability to answer questions within a specific time frame. Try to answer as many questions as you can!

CAPP System HSBC, Jardine
Similar to PLA, this also times you. It checks your ability to answer quickly so make sure you do! There’s no timer for you to look at, which makes this even tougher.

Skyrise/ Pymetrics Test & other game assessment systemsPwC, IBM, Blackrock
Companies like PwC use game-based methods to conduct apt tests. The questions may not be too difficult but don’t let that fool you. Sometimes you need to answer fast so remember to be quick.

Talent QUBS, SCB
Thankfully for this, you don’t get points deducted if you answer a question incorrectly. However, it does try to test you by playing with the order of questions, so stay sharp when doing this.

GradACESHKP, HKEX
Thankfully, unlike Cut-e, no points are deducted if you make mistakes with this one but of course, you need to stay on your toes when answering.

Big BossOliver Wyman, Bain, BCG
This will pose highly numerical questions as well as case studies, so you need to be able to provide answers that are logical. The questions posed can be quite tough.
This can seem very intimidating. That’s why with proper training, you increase your chances of succeeding and passing these tests. Our programme is here to help so message us to learn more and bag that dream job of yours!
