HSBC & CITI Hiring IS ON in HK / SG / UK- Are You Ready with a Fail-Proof Application Strategy??

Top tier banks like HSBC and Citibank recently opened their 2024 summer analyst applications (HSBC is recruiting for grad roles as well)! This means that after the investment bank peak hiring, now the bank recruitment season is ON!

Ideally you’ll need a slightly different strategy for banking positions than IB, also because they hire on a rolling basis.

Here’s what you’ll need to know before you rush to apply to Citi or HSBC:

1️⃣ Recruitment Process: Each bank has its unique assessment & interview rounds for grad hiring and internships:

✅ HSBC - Aptitude test (or 1st interview) —> Assessment Centre —> Super day
HSBC also uses the Hirevue system for initial video interviews

✅ CITI - 1st round Assessment Centre —> 2nd round Panel/ Face Interview
Please note that Citi has included a "Questionnaire" in their initial screening (similar to the application essay), asking questions like "Why Citi?" and "Latest changes in the banking field". The questions aren’t difficult and on the upside, you don't need to do any apt test, which is great!

2️⃣ Why CITI & HSBC must be your TOP Targets?
✅The return offer rates across most divisions is usually high
✅While HSBC allows only ONE application per division, you can send upto 3 applications for CITI
✅Both CITI & HSBC have openings in investment banking as well as other divisions like Commercial Bank, Private Bank, and general banking- offering several opportunities!
✅CITI’s salary package is one of the best in both IB and Banking levels

3️⃣ Remember, don’t apply for internship & grad job at the same time!

4️⃣ Applying late could prevent you from getting the offers you want the most😲 since both banks hire on a rolling basis

5️⃣ Since CITI doesn’t have any Apt Tests or Video Interviews, their interview sources are SUPER IMPORTANT than other banks, since that’s all you’ll need to get offers
